TESCO SHINES A LIGHT ON LOCAL SEAWEED DELICACY WITH INSTORE DEMONSTRATION

With the news Laverbread is to be awarded special European protection, Tesco’s Swansea Cadle Extra store will be putting the seaweed delicacy at the top of the menu with an instore cookery demonstration hosted by award-winning chef on Saturday (27th May).

Gareth Johns, founding member of the Culinary Association of Wales and strong advocate of Welsh produce, will be using laverbread in four different recipes.

In one recipe he will be combining laverbread and Welsh lamb – which has also been bestowed the same honour by The European Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).

Gareth will be showing off his culinary skills to shoppers from 11am and samples of Gareth’s efforts will be given out instore. Recipe booklets available for those wanting to have a go at home.

Matt Bourne, store manager at Tesco Swansea Cadle Extra, said: “The news about laverbread being given a protected status comes at a very good time as we already had the laverbread demonstration in the diary.

“It’s a product we have always stocked but we’re hoping Gareth will give our customers some ‘food for thought’ and demonstrate a variety of ways in which it can be used to produce tasty meals.”

Tesco Swansea Cadle Extra is situation on Pontardulais Road, Cadle, Swansea.
